Mera peak (6470m) is one of the beautiful and easy peak in Nepal around Huknu Valley, Khumbu region. Mera Peak climbing starts form Lukla airstrips. The trail straight raise to Zetra La pass which seems bit stuff at the beginning. The trail to the Mera Peak climbing almost over the 4000m. Mera Peak is usually, and perhaps incorrectly, regarded as the highest official trekking peak in Nepal. The confusion stems from its altitude and location being misreported by the Nepal Mountaineering Association. Mera peak is a mountain that lies in the Himalayas, specifically in the Sagarmatha Region of Nepal. Hiking through the busy trails to Everest Base Camp and quiet passes, this trip leads us to sparsely inhabited Hinku Valley. Hiking all the way through a beautiful high alpine surroundings we can see Mera peak soaring over the valley with the altitude of 6476 meters. Dominating the watershed above the wide and thickly forested valley, Mera peak rises to the south of Everest showcasing four of the world’s highest mountains.
There are several approaches to the base camp besides the easy and normal route which is mentioned below. The normal route for climbing Mera Peak is North Face Glacier from the Mera La. The base camp can be set up at 5,300m on the Hongu side in the moraine below the ice. Normally, high camp is set at 5,800m near a rocky outcrop on the Mera Glacier. The high camp proves to be one to the spectacular viewpoints in Nepal offering the panoramic views of Kanchanjunga, Chamlang, Makalu and Baruntse sweeping around from the east and Amadablam, Cho Oyu and Kangtega to the west.
