Kanchenjunga, the thrilling place of Nepal not found elsewhere just below the looming Mountain Kanchenjunga (8,586 meters). Kanchenjunga trekking one of the adventure trekking but yet unspoiled trekking region in Himalayas which is located in the eastern part of Nepal and opened for trekking in 1988 AD. Mt. Kanchenjunga {8586m} is world’s third highest mountain. This area is declared as the gift of the Earth full of alpine grass lands, rocky outcrops, dense temperate and sub-tropical forests and low river valley. It is situated north in north eastern part of Nepal border by Tibet, China and India. This enchanting area offers the excellent display of flowering glory of rhododendrons, orchids, lilies, primula and many other flowers. The must-see place of this region is Kanchenjunga conservation area spread in an area of 2,035 square Kilometers. The area has a rich diversity of wildlife including snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer red panda and others. Impheyan, pheasant, red-billed blue mangpie, shy drongo are the major birds found here.
Kanchenjungha trekking in the region offers infinite variety of landscapes, cultures and panoramic views of Himalayas including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. With this all the features, the trekking in Kanchenjunga is really rewarding. It is located on the border of Nepal and Sikkim (India). During the trekking in the area, we can see various animals such as Musk deer, blue sheep, Himalayan Thar and many others. It is also believed that the abdominal snow man YETI exists in this Area. Kanchenjunga Conservation Area spread in an area of 2,035 square Kilometers. Kanchenjunga trekking is one of the most remote and beautiful Trekking areas in Nepal, which, unused to foreign visitors, still lies shrouded in mystery. Kanchenjunga region trekking trails start from 1200 meters (4,000ft) to 5180 meters (17,094ft) above sea level. On the way, besides the majestic Himalayas and waterfalls, you will pass through thickets of rhododendron and other highland forests. Also enjoy the hospitality of different ethnic groups, and encounter various highland flora and fauna.
Since, the Suketar Airport of Taplejung is not operational these days, we fly to Bhadrapur and then drive to Suketar, our trek start point. From Suketar, via Mitlung and Ghunsa, we climb to the north base camp, Pangpema. Then we retrace our path to Ghunsa and head toward Yalung Glacier/Oktang. While returning, instead of going to Taplejung again, we descend to Thorpu from where we drive to Birtamod. Next day’s flight to Kathmandu completes our adventures in the Kanchenjugha region. Monasteries, chhortens, temples, prayer walls are the representation of this area.
